NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Sacred Heart University field hockey team controlled much of the game and held a lead entering the fourth quarter, but UC Davis scored twice late to edge the Pioneers, 2-1, on Friday evening.

Emma Brayford gave Sacred Heart the breakthrough in the 45th minute, converting her first goal of the season on a penalty corner, with help from
Bell Mazza and
Amelia Pellegrini. The Pios held a 1-0 lead heading into the final frame.
UC Davis responded in the final period, tying the contest on a penalty stroke in the 48th minute, and then delivered the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in the game.
The Pioneers outshot the Aggies 15-10, including an 8-4 edge in shots on goal, and earned six penalty corners. Sacred Heart goalkeeper
