Box Score (Bethlehem, PA) - Karly Duven scored
her first goal of the season, but the Sacred Heart Field Hockey
team fell to Lehigh 4-1 in the season opener.
Lehigh opened the scoring on Abbey Tolton's goal at the 25:23
mark. However, Duven tied it for the Pioneers just over four
minutes later, beating the defender outside the circle for an
unassisted goal at the 29:35 mark.
The Mountain Hawks took the lead for good early in the second,
as Kimberly Eng picked up a loose ball in front for an unassisted
goal at the 37:42 mark. Madison Ingal made it 3-1 at the
47:24 mark, dribbling into center and slamming a shot inside the
right post. Katey Fardelmann closed the scoring off Eng's
pass after a penalty corner at the 51:23 mark.
Senior goalkeeper Kim Stow turned away
15 of Lehigh's 19 shots on goal.
Sacred Heart looks to rebound Sunday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. on
the road against West Chester University.
