Women's Soccer Shutout At Yale

The Sacred Heart women's soccer team fell behind early and never recovered in a 4-0 loss to Yale Friday night in New Haven, CT. The Bulldogs outshot the Pioneers 18-7 overall and 12-1 in the opening half. Meghan Reichelt (Selden, NY) made eight saves in goal for the Pioneers but would eventually pick up the loss.
Yale (2-4-0) made its way onto the scoreboard first with an icebreaking goal 11:09 into the game. Miyuki Hino finished a cross from Becky Brown to put her team ahead early. The Pioneers held off the Bulldogs for 20 minutes before Natalie Romine slotted home a rebound to double the Yale advantage. Kristen Forster extended the lead 39 seconds later tapping in a cross from Anna McCahon.
Sacred Heart (4-3-1) improved its offense in the second half mounting six shots but was unable to get one past Yale goaltenders Ayana Sumiyasu and Adel Jackson-Gibson. The Bulldogs rounded out the scoring 4:45 into the second half on a marker from Megan Ashforth.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday for a road game against Brown at 2:00 pm in Providence, RI.
