Sacred Heart Field Hockey Beats Robert Morris 1-0

Box Score

(Fairfield, CT) – Leah Salindong (Spring City, PA) scored the game's only goal, and Kim Stow (Norwalk, CT) stopped all seven Robert Morris shots for her first shutout of the year in a 1-0 win for the SHU Field Hockey team Sunday afternoon at Campus Field.

Salindong hustled her way to her the rebound of her own shot on goal at 17:03, knocking the game-winning goal inside the left post.  She and Lindsay Kasten (Fair Haven, NJ) both led the team with three shots on goal a piece, with Salindong taking a team-high six total shots.

Salindong's goal followed a game-changing save by Stow, who stopped a penalty stroke by Jamie Hartley just 51 seconds earlier on the other end of the field.

The Pioneers outshot the Colonials 18-10, although both Stow for SHU and Erin McKenzie for RMU both made seven saves with SHU putting eight shots on goal to RMU's seven.

The Pioneers travel to Rider for another NEC game Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
