Pioneers Down Stevens Tech Ducks 3-1

Fairfield, Conn.—Sophomore Bradley Borsay (Richmond, R.I.) led the Sacred Heart men's volleyball team with 18 kills as the Pioneers added another tally to the win column, defeating Stevens Tech 3-1 Wednesday night. With the win, Sacred Heart improves to 6-21 on the season.
The Pioneers surged out of the gates, taking the first set 25-18. The teams traded points before a Stevens attack error sent Sacred Heart on a eight-point run that would result in their first eight-point lead of the set. Closing in on set-point, the Pioneers had another eight-point lead before Mike Komlanc (St, Croix, Virgin Islands) recorded his first kill of the match for the win.
Riding the momentum, Sacred Heart increased their lead further picking up the second set 25-20. Redshirt-sophomore Nick Hunt (Uniondale, N.Y.) led the Pioneers in the second game with seven kills hitting .400. In a close set, but a five-point surge by SHU put them over the top.
Several crucial service errors and a strong Stevens offense resulted in Sacred Heart dropping the third set 25-20, but they rebounded in the fourth. The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead, taking the first three points and maintaining that three-point lead for the next 14 plays before the Ducks evened the score at 10. The teams exchanged points and the lead until it was knotted again at 18. From there the Pioneers went on a 7-3 streak to win the set and the match.
Sacred Heart plays its final match of the season on Saturday, April 21 against New Jersey Institute of Technology.
