Fairfield, Conn.—Elise Sage (Greenwood Village, Colo.) hit .462 with seven kills in the Sacred Heart Women's Volleyball Team's 3-0 defeat of Dartmouth in Game 4 of the 2012 SHU Hampton Inn Shelton Invitational.

The score tied nine times in the first twenty points of the first set, but with the score tied at ten, Karly Shockey (Chino Hills, Calif.) sent the Pioneers on a four-point streak giving them a lead over the Big Green they would never relinquish. Dartmouth managed to pull within one on two more occasions, but SHU's 5-1 run towards the end gave them the momentum they needed to close out the set 25-21. Johanna Ovsenek (London, On.) hit .500 in the match recording three kills on six attempts making no errors.

Rookie Natalie Kridel (Huntington Beach, Calif.) got the first kill of the second set on her way to recording a .625 hitting percentage with a game-high six kills on eight attempts. The Pioneers dominated the second half. With the score knotted at three, SHU got the lead on a Dartmouth serving error and never looked back. Sacred Heart strung together three service runs of at least four points, including Shockey's five-point service run to clinch the match.

Alissa Young (La Verne, Calif.) led the Pioneers with five kills in the third set, while Sage was a perfect two-for-two.  The match was tight as the teams exchanged points until it was tied at 12. Then Sacred Heart went on a 7-2 streak started by a Shockey kill to gain a 17-14 lead. The Big Green managed to knot the game at 17 and 18 points, but the Pioneers strung together a 7-1 run to claim the match with a 25-19 win in the third set.

The Pioneers face cross town-rival Fairfield University in the finale of the Invitational at 5:00 p.m.
