SHU Bowling Opens 2014-15 Season Third at Bowl for a Cure SHU Invitational

WALLINGFORD, CONN. (October 25, 2014)—The Sacred Heart bowling team went 2-2 at the Bowl for a Cure SHU Invitational Saturday at Brunswick Colony Lanes. Jayna Tartaglia (Rye Brook, N.Y.) led the Pioneers and came in eighth overall in the singles tournament averaging 202.
Tartaglia led the way for SHU to open the season with a 958-811 win over Franklin Pierce before they fell to Adelphi 964-933. A 962-906 loss to eventual champion St. Francis Brooklyn knocked the Pioneers into third place with a 2-1 record.
Taking on Franklin Pierce again in the position round, Sacred Heart claimed third place, making the Ravens fourth, with the 902-890 win.
Sophomore Abby Rossi (Great Barrington, Mass.) also qualified for the Top 16 in the singles tournament. While the Top 8 got a bye in the first round, Rossi, the tenth seed, was knocked out by the Terriers' Shannon Chelpesky.
Tomorrow, the Pioneers play in their first EIBC match of the year at Farmingdale Lanes in Farmingdale, N.Y.
