Swimming Gives Spadafina First Career Win, 105-95 Over Saint Francis Brooklyn

Sacred Heart University first-year head women's swim coach John Spadafina earned his first victory with the Pioneers with a 105-95 win over Saint Francis Brooklyn in New Rochelle, N.Y. Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers dropped dual meets to Wagner, 131-62 and Iona, 135-73 as part of the quad meet, hosted by Iona College.
The meet with St. Francis came down to the final relay. The team of Caleigh Dion, Emily Shenk, Olivia Decas, and Jillian Crosby responded, earning the overall victory, in a time of 3:43.90, nearly four seconds clear of runner up, Iona.
Decas had the Pioneers top individual finish of the afternoon, placing second in the 50 freestyle with a season-best 25.26. She placed fifth in the 100-yard freestyle, at 55.83.
Crosby just touched out her teammate, Decas, in the 100 freestyle, finishing .01 in front for a fourth place finish. She placed third in the 200 freestyle, with a season-best 2:00.45 swim.
Siobhan Goodman also had a season-best swim for SHU, placing fifth in the 200 butterfly, at 2:22.10. Katrina Dy rounded out the Pioneers top-five finishes on the afternoon, with a fourth place finish in the 200 breaststroke, touching at 2:48.01.
Sacred Heart is off until Saturday, November 8, when it travels to Holy Cross for 1 p.m.
