Box Score BROOKLYN, N.Y. (November 1, 2014)—Makayla Dole (Cypress, Calif.) and Sarah Krufka (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) each hit a match-best 12 kills as the Sacred Heart women's volleyball team downed St. Francis Brooklyn in three straight sets Saturday afternoon.
Krufka was impressive in the win. The sophomore recorded an errorless match hitting .500. For Dole, combining her kills with 11 digs, this was her fifth double-double of the season.
Sacred Heart cruised to a 25-17 victory in the first set, never relinquishing the lead, before stumbling to open the second. Several Pioneer errors put them behind early, but four straight kills brought them back to tie the game at four. After the lead flip-flopped, Katie Direnzo's six-point service run pushed SHU to the 25-22 win.
The Terriers took the first point of the third set, but that was the only lead they'd get as Dole's four-point service run gave the Pioneers the lead they'd never give back en route to the 25-14 win.
The Pioneers return home tomorrow to host the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds at 1:00 p.m.
