NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (April 2, 2014)—Freshman McKenna Wiegand (Gilbert, Ariz.) slapped a two RBI single through the left side of the infield scoring Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) and Justine Sibthorp (Santa Clarita, Calif.) for the only two runs Pioneer runs of the game. Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) got the loss after allowing Allison Hand's walk-off homerun to give Iona the 3-2 win over the Sacred Heart softball team. The loss drops SHU to 9-11 on the season.

Carlson gave up all three runs on seven hits, including two solo homeruns, tying her season high. The rookie struck out five batters over 6.1 innings of work. Sibthorp went 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles, and reached once on a hit by pitch, which turned into a run.

The Pioneers resume Northeast Conference play this Saturday when they take on Mount St. Mary's on the road. The doubleheader is set to start at 1:00 p.m.
