FAIRFIELD, CONN. (September 10, 2015)—Sacred Heart Co-Head Coaches Elizabeth Luckie and Pam London announced senior Nicole Deissler, and juniors Victoria D'Addario and Kelyn Fillmore team captains for the 2015-16 season.
"These three student-athletes are really a great representation of the quality leadership that all our upperclassmen provide," said London. "All three have shown their leadership abilities through their actions as well as through their positive attitudes. These three young ladies have proven that they are dedicated to and passionate about making SHU Softball the best it can be. They are not only really good athletes, but they are more importantly really good people. We are very proud to have Nicole, Vic, and Kelyn as our 2015-16 Captains!"
The Pioneers went 14-30 in 2015 and 5-11 against Northeast Conference opponents. Fillmore led the squad with four homers, while classmate D'Addario was in the top five in batting average, slugging percentage, hits and RBIs. Deissler enters her senior year boasting a .921 fielding percentage after taking the infield off the bench for the last three years.
Sacred Heart opens its fall schedule September 12 at Pioneer Park for its annual alumni game before playing St. John's and Iona on September 19.
