For the first time in program history, the Sacred Heart football team will play a game in the central time zone when it faces the Valparaiso Crusaders Saturday at 2 p.m.

Saturday's game is the first-ever meeting between the Pioneers and the Crusaders. This is the second time Sacred Heart will have played a Pioneer Football League opponent. The Pioneers are 5-2 all-time against Marist, who Sacred Heart plays Sept. 19.
Last week, Sacred Heart won its third consecutive season opener with a 43-19 win over Saint Anselm at Campus Field. RJ Noel threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, and tied a career-high with two rushing touchdowns. Tyler Dube had eight receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Kellen Sperduto had a game-high 13 tackles. Matt Ilalio had 11 tackles, including his first career sack that went for a safety.
The Pioneers defense held Saint Anselm to 45 yards rushing last week and forced six three-and-outs. Sacred Heart had two safeties and also blocked two kicks, one of which was a point after attempt that Khaamal Whitaker returned for two points.
Picked to finish ninth in the PFL this season, Valparaiso in 0-1 after a 52-10 loss at #17 Eastern Kentucky last Thursday. The quarterback duo of Scott Staal and Dalton Stokes were a combined 26-of-44 passing for 182 yards. Frank Catrine had eight receptions for 70 yards. The Crusaders were 4-8 in 2014, its highest win total since 2007.
