Box Score PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 20, 2015)—Sophomores Nichole Tolli and Lauren Lawson scored their first goals of the season in the Sacred Heart field hockey team's 5-2 loss to Penn Sunday afternoon at Ellen Vagelos Field in Philadelphia, PA.
SHU continues its Ivy League road trip Thursday at Columbia.
First Half
- The Quakers struck first netting goals in the 12th and 17th minutes of the game for an early lead that they held onto throughout the game
- Twenty-five seconds after Penn's second goal, Tolli found the a low angle from the right side to get the ball past Penn's goalkeeper Liz Mata
- The Pioneers went into the second half down just 2-1 after being outshot 12-2 in the period
Second Half
- Senior Mary Altepeter made 11 of her 14 saves in the second half as the Quakers continued to outshoot SHU 20-2 in the period
- Penn scored three goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half further increasing its lead
- The Pioneers didn't give up and continued to fight. In the 63rd minute of the game, Danielle Gallagher found her stride on a fast break feeding Lawson in front of the goal for SHU's second goal of the game
