Football is back at Sacred Heart University, this Saturday, September 5 at 6:00 p.m. as the two-time defending Northeast Conference Champion Pioneers return to the gridiron.
The Pioneers kickoff the campaign by hosting St. Anselm under the lights on Campus Field. SHU and the Hawks are meeting for the first-time on the gridiron. SHU has won three straight season opening games, outscoring foes 107-31 in that stretch.
Fans that are unable to attend the game can watch free and live at NECFrontRow.com. Randy Brochu, Dario Melendez and Shelby Vaccaro will have the call beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Be apart of the festivities and excitement with the purchase of a Tailgate Village Pass. A season-pass, $200, entitles you to a spot adjacent to Campus Field where you can revel in the college football tailgating experience three-hours prior to kick-off. To reserve a season pass,

Directly outside of Campus Field will be tailgating games to play, as well as free SHU face painting for children, compliments of members of the SHU Cheerleading team.
Once you are on campus, there are plenty of other opportunities to enjoy a college football Saturday with the Pioneers. The SHU Marching Band Percussion line will perform outside Campus Field at 4 p.m. on Saturday. That is just the first of many SHU Marching Band performances, as you are invited to join the band as they perform at the chapel, at 5:10, before marching up to Campus Field.
Be sure to be in your seats (
buy tickets) within Campus Field by 5:50 p.m. for the marching bands pregame performance, the introduction of the Pioneer football team and the national anthem. Kick-off versus St. Anselm is slated for 6:05 p.m.
There will be several groups honored throughout the game, highlighted by the championship ring presentation for the 2014 NEC Women's Cross Country champions. SHU will also recognize and introduce members of its fall varsity athletic teams.
In addition, several members of the first varsity football program at SHU will be in attendance at the game. The group will have a pregame celebration before making their way to the stadium to watch the current Pioneers in action.
