
Women's Soccer Falls In Overtime At Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Sacred Heart women's soccer team lost in overtime Sunday 1-0 to the Hartford Hawks at Al-Marzook Field.
Hartford (3-1-0) scored the lone goal of the match in the fourth minute of extra time. Elise Galipo found Julia Carr on the counter, with Carr firing a shot from 10 yards out past Talia Schwartz who came off her line to stop Carr. Schwartz had three saves as Sacred Heart (2-3-0) was shut out for the first time in 2015.
The Pioneers are back in action Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. match at Yale.
FIRST HALF
- Schwartz was forced into quick action, making a save in the second minute on an Aaliyah Ingram shot
- Mesropyan had SHU's first shot of the game, putting one on goal in the 11th minute that was stopped by Hartford goalkeeper Jessica Jurg; Marissa Christy also had a shot on goal in the 13th minute
- Christy had another shot on goal in the 23rd minute that Jurg stopped
- Sacred Heart outshot Hartford 7-5 in the first half, putting four shots on goal
SECOND HALF
- Lindsay Corallo hit the crossbar in the 55th minute
- Schwartz made another save in the 75th minute to keep the game scoreless
- The Hawks outshot the Pioneers 9-2 in the second half
