Box Score FAIRFIELD, CONN.- The Sacred Heart Pioneers continue to make their mark on the NEC conference. The Pioneers now hold the best record in the conference after sweeping the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds to improve their record to 8-1 in the NEC.
1st SET- The Pioneers jumped to an early lead with a 4-0 start thanks to the serving of freshman Liisel Nelis. The blackbirds weren't going to go down easy as they clawed their way back to tie the set up at 15-15. Senior Sarah Krufka managed to keep the Pioneers composed and added a few kills to end the set 25-23.
2nd SET- Sophomore standout Makayla Dole tallied four kills in the second set giving the Pioneers the advantage over the Blackbirds. To end the set Senior Ana Gonzalez added a service ace which was her 7th of the weekend to close the set 25-20.
3rd SET- The Pioneers left no doubt in the eyes of the fans the 3rd set jumping to a commanding lead of 19-13. Freshman Liisel Nelis added three kills and a service ace to close the match with a 25-20 win over the Blackbirds.
The Pioneers now sit 15-7 overall and 8-1 in the conference. They continue play October 29th as they take the road to take on Saint Francis U.
