
Sarah Krufka Breaks Career Kills Record 1,453!

FAIRFIELD, CONN.- Senior Sarah Krufka has had a remarkable career as a Pioneer at Sacred Heart. The Santa Margarita, California native has added yet another accolade to her resume as she now holds the Sacred Heart record for most career kills by any Pioneer on the women's volleyball team with 1,453. Formerly held by Tricia Moore who had 1,447 (1996-99).
Sarah Krufka was named the NEC Rookie of the Year in her freshman campaign (2013-14) as she posted 323 kills in 31 matches for the Pioneers. In her freshman year she ended the season 7th in the NEC in kills, and also helped the Pioneers earn a bid to the NEC tournament.
In Krufka's sophomore season she managed to post 347 kills in just 27 matches. She ended the year averaging 3.44 kills per set. Not only did she excel at the net she also registered 23 service aces in 2014-15. Krufka ended the season third in the NEC in kills.
Last year in her junior season, Sarah continued to display her talents in her best season to date. Krufka was named the NEC Player of the Year after posting 466 kills in only 29 sets. This was the first Sacred Heart Player to be named Player of the Year since 2010. Krufka led the Pioneers to the NEC tournament where she also led the conference in kills, 98 kills above the next closes player to Krufka who had 368 kills.
This year Sarah Krufka has been on the same route for the Pioneers, she currently leads the conference in kills with 317 kills. She has added 56 total blocks for the team, and averages 3.73 kills per set.
The team currently has five more matches before the Conference tournament. Sitting at 10-1 on the year, Sarah Krufka and the Pioneers look to continue their impressive play and end the season with the ultimate goal as NEC Tournament Champions.
