Sacred Heart Women's Rugby falls to West Chester 47-7

FAIRFIELD, CT. (October 8, 2016) - The Sacred Heart Women's Rugby team hosted the West Chester Golden Rams at Campus Field for their Senior Day and final home contest of the season on Saturday October 8th at 12:00 p.m.
SHU celebrated seniors Kaitlyn McNicholas, Emily Mignogni, Sarah Rodzevik and Charlotte Tallman in a ceremony prior to the game.
Both teams came out strong, presenting an evenly matched game at the beginning of the first half. The Pioneer defense played tough; however, West Chester's Aubrey Carol scored the first try of the game and broke out the Rams offense. West Chester followed it up with three consecutive tries to bring the score to 20-0 going into the second half. Adriana Zeiders would complete no conversions.
The Pioneers had several great break out runs in the second half, only to be stopped by a quick West Chester defense. West Chester would score first in the second half. Margaret Woods (Bronx, N.Y.) would finally snag the first try for SHU with 18 minutes left in the match with Kaylee Hale (Wolcott, C.T.) completing the conversion. The Rams answered back with three more tries and a completed conversion kick.
The game would finish with a result of 47-7.
The Pioneers will finish out the season with a series of road games, beginning with a trip to Molloy for a match on Saturday October 15th at 11:00 a.m.
