
Women's Soccer Falls to Fairfield 2-0

NEW HAVEN, Conn.— The Sacred Heart women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the year as they fell to cross-town rival Fairfield 2-0 in the second matchup of the Yale Classic held at Reese Stadium Friday night.
Fairfield (1-2-0) handed Sacred Heart (1-1-1) 13 to 9 in the contest. After a quite first half by both teams, The Stags broke the game open in the 57th minute with a goal by senior Pamela Coufos to take the 1-0 lead.
Sacred Heart continued to battle the rest of the game, with two corner kicks by freshman Olivia Crema and shots by sophomores Melanie DaSilva and Alex Mesropyan and freshman Rhone O'Hara. One of which was saved by Fairfield goalkeeper Jenna Page, who finished with four saves. Pioneers sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Sambuco recorded six saves.
The Pioneers will take on host Yale in the final game of the Yale Classic on Sunday at 10:00 am.
