Box Score WORCESTER, MASS. (September 11, 2016)—Kelsy Hopkins (Ambler, Pa.) gave SHU a 1-0 lead at halftime with a goal in the seventh minute, but Holy Cross staged a second-half comeback to take the game 2-1 Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers travel to Brown on Friday before returning home to host Dartmouth next Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
First Half:
- The Crusaders got off two shots in the opening minutes before Sacred Heart drove the ball down the field allowing Caitlyn Slusser (Milford, N.J.) to get off a shot. Marcia LaPlante made the save, but the ball was left loose in front of the goal for Hopkins to put in for the game's first score
- SHU was outshot 4-3 in the half, but all three of the Pioneers' shots were on goal
Second Half:
- Holy Cross went on the offensive attack right away in the second half taking six shots in the first nine minutes. After the first five were saved by Emily Degennaro (Wading River, N.Y.), Lauren Sutherland scored her first goal of the season to even the score
- Less than three minutes later, in the game's 47th minute, Maureen Connolly scored the go-ahead for the Crusaders knocking in a cross pass from the far side
- SHU couldn't seem to get anything going in the latter half, only managing one shot
