
SHU Volleyball wins first match of New Hampshire Invite

DURHAM, NH.- The Sacred Heart Women's Volleyball started off the first match of the New Hampshire Invite with a victory of Idaho State tonight. The Pioneers improve their record to 4-6 on the season looking to capture two more victories tomorrow.
The Pioneers got off to a slow start in the beginning of the first set trailing 2-5, but were quick to regroup as Lila Palmer served six consecutive times to take the lead. Sacred Heart went on the win the first match by a margin of 25-21. The second set the Pioneers captured their first point by Senior Sarah Krufka and never lost the lead from that point on to win the match 25-23. The Bengals took set three by a score of 25-15 forcing a fourth match where Sacred Heart closed out the match by winning the fourth set by a score of 25-23.
Last week's NEC player of the week Sarah Krufka ended the match with 17 kills of her 33 attempts giving her a kill percentage of .433%. Also contributing to the kill category is senior Makayla Dole who tallied 15 kills, and ending with a kill percentage of .303%. Lila Palmer stood out on the serving side where she had 2 service aces. Setting for the Pioneers were Kiki Robinson who added 29 assists, and Lea Lieb who had 23 assists. On the defensive side of the game was senior libero Ana Gonzalez who added 15 digs.
The Pioneers head back to the court tomorrow at 12:30 to take on tournament host New Hampshire University, and 4:30pm to take on Holy Cross.
