
SHU Volleyball Wins Home Opener in Dominating Fashion

FAIRFIELD CONN- Sacred Heart women's volleyball team opened up their 2016 home schedule with a 3-0 sweep versus George Mason on the first day of the Hampton Inn Shelton Invitational.
The Pioneers started the first set slow, trailing the Patriots 7-3 early in the match. Sacred Heart bounced back to win the first set with a score of 25-20. The Pioneers lead by freshman Liisel Neils, captured a set two victory of 25-23, and a third set sweep of 25-22 to end the day.
Strong performances came from Liisel Neils who lead the team with 14 kills and a kill percentage of .333. Neils contributed to 16 of the 57 Sacred Heart points. Also contributing to the offensive side for the team was Makayla Dole who added 12 kills and a kill percentage of .333. Kiki Robinson added 8 digs, and 23 assists for the Pioneers as well.
The Hampton Inn Shelton Invitational continues tomorrow at 10:00am as George Mason takes on Dartmouth. Sacred Heart looks to roll into tomorrow at 12:00pm as they take on Milwaukee.
