FAIRFIELD, CT. (September 24, 2016) - Sacred Heart locked down a second win for the season, dominating Castleton with a final score of 56-0 on Sunday, September 24th.
The Spartans were shut out in the first half, with SHU executing a strong offensive attack and playing most of the game on Castleton's end of the pitch. The Spartans defense would be no match for the Pioneers, who would tally 29 consecutive points with a combination of tries from Samantha King (1), Emily Mignoni (1), Charlotte Tallman (2) and Sarah Rodzevick (1). Kaylee Hale would go two-for-five on conversion kicks.
At the start of the second half, the Spartans could still not get going offensively while the Pioneers continued to put on the pressure. Eleven minutes in, Marissa Yost would score the first try of the half for SHU. Showing no signs of stopping, SHU continued to score, putting another 27 consecutive points on the board and finishing the game 56-0.
The Pioneers will take the week off and then return to Campus Field for their final home game of the season, hosting the West Chester Golden Rams on October 8th at 12:00 p.m. Please come join us as we celebrate our Rugby Seniors.
