Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. – On the backend of a back-to-back, the Sacred Heart women's volleyball team swept Northeast Conference member, St. Francis Brooklyn, 3-0, in front of a home crowd at the Pitt Center, Saturday evening. After dropping four conference matchups, the victors are now riding a two-game win streak for a near even league clip to conclude its first trip around the NEC.
Liisel Nelis' 16 kills on .433 hitting led the host in the category. Makayla Dole landed one shy of her teammate on a .393 hitting clip while also adding six digs to the Pioneer's defense. Kiki Robinson contributed 36 helpers while chipping in with a pair of kills, four block assists and eight digs. Madi Pope's 10 digs and Rianna McNamee's four block assist also commanded SHU's defense.
For the Terriers, Aleksandra Gligoric (18) and Ally Speweik (10) tallied kills in double-figures. Gligoric and Taris Pittman each raised for four block assists. Mireya Ramirez's 15 digs led all on the evening while Gabriella Nobrega led St. Francis Brooklyn in assists recording 26.

First Set: SHU 25-20
- SHU held St. Francis Brooklyn to its lowest hitting clip, .091.
- The Terriers flirted with a two-point lead in the early going of the set before a kill by Nelis from Robinson made it a one-point set, 15-14.
- An Ally Speweik attack right into the shield of Gianna Scioletti and Robinson deadlocked the score at 15 apiece.
- Sidney Benson would earn a point to see the Terriers back in front on the ensuing play but a service error on Wies Hurkmans' account and an error committed by Speweik would hand the Pioneers' a lead that would not relinquish, 17-16
- SHU went on to outscore SFBK 8-4 as the 25-20 score was settled on a kill from Dole.
Second Set: SHU 25-20
- SHU credited its best hitting clip, .462.
- St. Francis Brooklyn earned the first point of the set but both teams remained in early striking distance on one another.
- With a score knotted at 5-5, SHU rattled off three quick points, on Megan Mondon's serve, for the 8-5 edge. From there, the Terriers were unable to recover.
- SHU opened its advantage to as many as six three times, 16-10, 17-11 and 18-12 before resting on the 25-20 set score.
Third Set: SHU 25-22
- Both teams remained competitive through the set's duration without either team capitalizing on leads greater than three until an error by the Terriers' Vanja Miljacic put SHU ahead by four, 13-9.
- A kill from Speweik for the 18-14 score, snowballed a 4-0 run by the visitors as they filled the gap completely on a kill from Gligoric.
- Robinson's feed to Dole put the host back in front, 19-18, and they would not look back.
Sacred Heart takes nearly a week off before starting its second round against league opponents. SHU heads to northern New Jersey for a battle against Fairleigh Dickinson University, Friday, October 20 with action beginning at 6 p.m.
