Box Score The Sacred Heart University field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to MAAC host Rider University Friday evening. The loss drops the Pioneers to 6-10 on the season and 2-2 in the MAAC, while the Broncs improve to 8-7 overall and 3-2 in league play.
Rider struck less than one minute into the game and then tacked on a pair of goals in the final eight minutes for the final margin.
The Pioneers begin a three-game regular season ending home stand on Sunday when they host Georgetown. The match, scheduled for noon, is at Johnson Field in New Haven, Conn.
The Scoring
- Brittany Romanczuk made a solo run and found the back of the cage :54 into the game to give Rider a 1-0 advantage
- Kesheal Henderson took a short pass from Eline De Jong in front of the net and scored for the 2-0 advantage with 7:57 to play in regulation
- Romanczuk tallied the final goal of the game, converting a penalty stroke at the 64:19 mark
