The Sacred Heart University men's volleyball team fell to dropped its home opener 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 23-25, 21-25) Friday night at the Pitt Center to visiting Lindenwood University.

Set 1: Sacred Heart 25-22
- The teams traded the first 18 points before a block from Emerson Waumans and Rob Chatterton block helped spark SHU to an 11-9 lead
- After a Lion point Chatterton and Waumans again teamed up for a block that spurred the Pioneers to a mini run and a 15-12 advantage
- The SHU lead was a pair, 19-17, before kills by Hlavin and Sam Schindler bracketed a SHU hitting error and gave the visitor a 20-19 advantage
- After forcing a hitting error to tie the score 20-20, Shawn Tischler served three consecutive points, including an ace, to push the Pioneers to a 23-20 advantage.
- Chatterton closed out the set with an ace
Set 2: Lindenwood 25-23
- The teams again traded early points, over the first 10, before a SHU hitting error was followed by a Michael Jennings ace for a 7-5 Lions advantage
- SHU responded, tying the score at 7-7 and 8-8, before taking a 9-8 led following a Lions service error
- The Pioneers built there largest least, 13-11, after a Chatterton service ace and a LWU service error
- The teams traded points, with ties at 13-13, 14-14, 15-15 and 16-16
- LWU scored the next four points to build a 20-16 advantage
- SHU rallied back, scoring three straight points and using a 5-1 run to knot the score at 21-21
- The Lions scored consecutive points for the 23-21 lead, before a Waumans kill and an LWU error brought the teams even again
- Following a timeout, Michael Jennings kill and a Ben Symonds service ace gave the Lions the set victory
Set 3: Lindenwood 25-23
- LWU jumped out to an early 5-3 advantage, before the Pioneer rattled off a 4-2 run to take a 7-6 lead on a Blake Cox service ace
- The teams then traded the next six points and a brief LWU lead at 10-9
- A Tischler kill tied the score 10-10 and after dropping behind a point, a Cox kill made it 11-11 and started a 4-0 run to give SHU its largest lead of the set, 14-11, to that point
- The Pioneers build that advantage to 20-15 on another kill from Tischler that led to an LWU timeout
- After the break, the Lions scored back-to-back points and six of seven, to draw even at 21-21
- The teams were tied at 22-22 and 23-23, before a SHU service error gave the Lions set point and a Johnny Winkler kill on the ensuing serve sealed the set
Set 4: Lindenwood 25-21
- The fourth set was similar, with the teams trading early points and neither team opening more than a two-point advantage
- LWU led 7-5 before a Waumans kill got the Pioneers going on a run that culminated with a Cox kill and a 13-9 Pioneer lead
- The score was tied three times before LWU retook the lead, 19-18 after a SHU error
- A Tischler kill knotted the score, 19-19, and the score was tied again after an LWU hitting error made it 21-21
- A service error by Waumans put the Lions in front and was followed by back-to-back blocks from Schindler and Jennings for a 24-22 lead, before a hitting error gave the Lions the victory

- Tyler Lee finished with 30 assists and 15 digs, both team-highs, for the Pioneers
- Tischler was a kill shy of a double-double, with 10 digs
