Box Score BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Sacred Heart University field hockey team opened the 2018 season with a 3-2 over Lock Haven win on Friday. The Pioneers received goals from Kelsy Hopkins, Olivia Lehane and Bridget LaRiccia in the win.
The Pioneers took the lead at 2:01 when Hopkins knocked home the contests' first goal. Lehane SHU up 2-0 at 26:30 after receiving a pass off a corner and firing the shot home. Lock Haven scored nearly four minutes later to cut the deficit to 2-1 before Larricia scored at 52:18 to give the Pioneers a two goal lead. Lock Haven scored with nearly two minutes remaining in regulation, but it wasn't enough to get past the Pioneers.
SHU returns to action on Sunday, August 26, when the Pioneers take on Lehigh at 4 p.m. on the road in Bethlehem, Pa.
