
Sarah Ciszek and Gianna Scioletti Earn NEC Weekly Awards for Women's Volleyball

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sacred Heart University women's volleyball had numerous players earn NEC weekly awards as sophomore Sarah Ciszek was named the NEC Co-Player of the Week and senior Gianna Scioletti was named the NEC Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
It is the first time the Pioneers had multiple players earn weekly NEC honors this season. It is also the first week weekly award for both Ciszek and Scioletti this season.
Ciszek registered 9.71 assists and 4.29 digs per set to lead the Pioneers past Central Connecticut and Bryant on back-to-back days. Ciszek tallied a triple-double with 11 kills, 40 assists and 21 digs, while hitting .435 for the match. She responded on Saturday with 28 assists and nine digs in the sweep over Bryant on the road.
Scioletti averaged 2.29 kills and 2.14 blocks per set to help the Pioneers dispatch Central Connecticut and Bryant. Against the Blue Devils on Friday, she posted nike kills, seven block assists and one solo block in a four-set victory. Scioletti followed on Saturday, totaling seven kills, six block assists and two solo blocks.
The Pioneers return to action Friday, Oct. 18, when they travel to take on NEC-foe Fairleigh Dickinson at 7 p.m.
