
Ciszek Named NEC Setter Of The Year

For the second time in as many years, Sarah Ciszek has been selected as the Northeast Conference Setter of the Year. The sophomore also earned First-Team All-NEC honors, along with senior teammate Liisel Nelis. Senior Julia Murwinski was also honored, Thursday night, with All-NEC Second Team honors.
Ciszek, a native of San Juan Capistranao, Calif., was the unanimous selection of the conference coaches for Setter of the Year and earns First-Team honors for the second time in her two-year career. She leads the conference with 1,100 assists, good for 24th in the nation. She had a season-best 60 assists against LIU and surpassed 40 assists in 13 matches this year. She is also hitting .352, the third best hitting percentage in a single-season in school history and good for fourth in the conference. Ciszek recorded three triple doubles this season, eighth in the NCAA, and added 303 digs.
Nelis, a native of Kuressaare, Estonia also earns First-Team All-NEC accolades for the second consecutive season. She finished the campaign with 317 kills, averaging a team-best 3.20 kills per set, fourth-best in the NEC. She notched a dozen double-doubles, finishing the regular season with 303 digs recored 12 double-doubt. Nelis also contributed 26 blocks and 31 aces to the team effort.
Murawinski, a Jefferson, N.J. native, earns All-NEC honors for the first-time in her career. She averaged 2.65 kills per set during NEC play, second on the team. Murawinski recorded 42 blocks, 0.86 per set, of her 52 blocks on the year in league action. All told, Murawinski recorded 168 kills, 2.63 per set during her senior campaign.
The Pioneers posted an 18-11 record and earned the second-seed in the NEC Tournament. SHU will take on third-seeded LIU Friday at 6:00 pm in the second semifinal. The match, and entire tournament, is hosted by Robert Morris University and will be available on ESPN3 and NEC Front Row.
