
NEC Champion Women's Volleyball Inks Three To NLI

Sacred Heart University women's volleyball coach Rob Machan officially announced the signing Kate Anderson (Weston, Conn.), Dominique Felix (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Hunter Ridel (Dana Point, Calif.) to National Letter's of Intent. The trio will join the Pioneers Class of 2024.
"We are excited to welcome Kate, Dominique and Hunter to the Pioneer family," said Machan. "They are a talented group of players with strong academic credentials, and we can't wait to add their talents to an outstanding group of returners."
The trio is set to join the defending NEC Champions. The Pioneers captured the 2019 Northeast Conference Championship on Saturday and are preparing for the NCAA Tournament. The selection show will air on ESPNU on December 1 at 8:30 pm. SHU posted a 20-11 record, its fifth 20-win season.
KATE ANDERSON – MIDDLE BLOCKER - WESTON HIGH SCHOOL
- Two-time First-Team All-State selection in 2018 and 2019
- A two-time team MVP and a team captain and helped Weston to first-ever state finals
- Set the program's all-time blocks record and currently third in career kills
- Four-year scholar-athlete and National Honor Society member
- Plays for NOVA Volleyball Club

"At over 6'5" Kate Anderson adds great physicality to our team. She is light on her feet, possesses a quick arm swing, and moves well on the block. She is a very versatile athlete who can play multiple positions across the net."
DOMINIQUE FELIX – OUTSIDE HITTER – NORTH CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
- Three-time First-Team All-State
- Led team to first-ever WPIAL Title
- Four-year varsity letter winner and court captain
- Member of the National Honor Society
- Plays for Pennsylvania High Performance team

"Dominique is a very physical outside hitter with excellent ball control. Standing 6'1" she is a strong jumper that can control the game both at the net and in the back row. She has a quick arm and commands the court with ease."
HUNTER RIEDL – OUTSIDE HITTER/RIGHT SIDE – DANA HILLS HIGH SCHOOL
- Four-time First-Team All-Conference Selection
- Led her team to state tournament as a junior, four years to the CIF and two league crowns
- Four-year varsity athletic award and earned Scholar-Athlete Award
- Named Rookie of the Year as a freshman
- Earned President's Education Award for GPA between 3.83 and 3.99
- Plays for Laguna Beach Volleyball Club, with top-three team finishes coming at the Las Vegas Classic 17 Open Elite, the SoCal Championships and Colorado Crossroads 17 Open

"Hunter is a versatile athlete with a heavy arm that scores well at both pins. At 6'2" she is a force at the net and not only is a high velocity attacker, but also a multi skilled player with a strong back row skills as well."
