
Softball Concludes Day One of Mason Invite With 2-0 Shutout Over George Mason

FAIRFAX, Va.- The Sacred Heart University Softball team blanked host George Mason University, 2-0, Friday evening in its second game at the Mason Invitational. The Pioneers improve to 9-8 on the year, while the Patriots fall to 6-10 on the season.
Emily Orosco allowed only one hit, while striking out four, to earn the complete-game victory for the Pioneers.
SHU plays the host, George Mason, Friday evening at 6:00 pm.
Softball returns to action on Saturday, playing Cornell at 11 am and George Mason at 1:15.

- Caroline Kruger opened the inning with a bunt single and advanced to second when Hailey Desrosiers laid down a bunt single to third base
- Stephanie Mangiameli advanced both runners with a sacrifice bunt
- Kylee Harvey reached on an error by the Mason first baseman that scored Kruger
- Amy Petrovich drove in the Pioneers second run, with a single to center field
The Numbers
- SHU knocked out 11 hits in the contest, with Kruger finishing 3-3 and three other Pioneers each recording two hits apiece
- Orosco improved to **** with the shutout
