First Period
- The Pioneers outshot the Golden Griffs in the opening period 13-10.
- It would be Canisius that struck first in the period as a goal by Keaton Mastrodonato off an assist by Matt Stief 1:27 into the period put Canisius ahead 1-0 early.
- Then less than two minutes later Mastrodonato scored again this time on a short-handed goal 3:00 into the period to put the Canisius in a 2-0 lead.
- SHU answered by four minutes later at 7:42 into the period though as senior Austin McIlmurray cashed in his ninth power-play goal of the season off a pair of assists by senior Mike Lee and first-year Braeden Tuck to put SHU within one goal of Canisius with the score now 2-1.
