
Tingley Sets School Record in 400 IM While Swimming and Diving Sits Sixth After Day Three At NEC Championships

EAST MEADOW, N.Y.- The Sacred Heart University Swimming and Diving team concluded the third day of competition at the Northeast Conference Championships tonight. SHU currently sits in sixth with 192 points. The Pioneers hit the final day in the pool with prelims beginning at 10am and finals at 6pm.
Bryant remains in first place after day two with 540 points followed by Central Connecticut with 396 and Wagner with 344.5. Saint Francis U sits in fourth with 320 then LIU in fifth with 252 with SHU right behind in sixth with 192. St. Francis (N.Y.), sits in seventh with 191 points while Mount Saint Mary's and Merrimack round out the team scores as Mount Saint Mary's has 79.5 and Merrimack has 77 points respectively.
EVENING SESSION (Finals)
100 Butterfly
- Emily Peter placed ninth with a season best time of 57.00.
- Taylor Eck followed with a 14th place finish with a season best time of 57.89.
- Nicole Rudis took 20th with a season best time of 1:00.36.
400 IM
- Nicole Tingley led the way in the 400 IM as she touched the wall with a time of 4:31.76 to take ninth place and to up her school record breaking time.
- Fiona Maxwell followed as she placed 19th with a season best time of 4:41.33.
200 Freestyle
- Senior Lauren Somers placed seventh with a time of 1:52.99.
- Grace Bergstrom touched the wall with a time of 1:57.05 to place 15th.
100 Breaststroke
- Julia Pusateri placed 18th with a time of 1:08.27.
- Sister Jillian Pusateri placed 20th with a time of 1:10.55.
100 Backstroke
- First-year Casey Barrett tallied a time of 58.97 as she placed 14th.
- Taylor Eck followed right behind with a time of 59.26 as she placed 15th.
- Kelly Bartnett tallied a season best time of 58.43 to place 18th overall.
400 Medley Relay
- Kelly Bartnett led off in the 50 and 100 back with times of 29.21 and 30.60 followed by Julia Pusateri who swam in the 150 breast and 200 breast with times of 31.86 then 37.34. Nicole Tingley followed suit in the 250 fly and 300 fly with touch times of 26.10 and 31.54. Grace Bergstrom rounded out the relay swimming the 350 free with a time of 25.67 followed by a time of 28.01 in the 400 free to place the team seventh with an overall time of 4:00.33.
MORNING SESSION (Prelim Results).
SHU tallied 10 season-best efforts during the morning session which included one school record breaking swim by Nicole Tingley in the 400 IM.
100 Butterfly
- Emily Peter placed 12th with a time of 57.61.
- Taylor Eck followed with a 15th place finish with a time of 58.32.
- Nicole Rudis took 21st with a time of 1:00.33.
- Ashley Ayala placed 23rd touching the wall with a time of 1:00.94
400 IM
- Nicole Tingley led the way in the 400 IM prelims with a season best time and a new school record of 4:32.80 to finish in ninth place.
- Fiona Maxwell placed 19th with a time of 4:45.35.
- Jillian Pusateri placed 24th with a season best time of 4:52.72.
- First-year Hyzell Lim concluded the 400 IM contestants with a 26th place finish with a time of 5:00.32.
200 Freestyle
- Senior Lauren Somers placed sixth with a season best time of 1:52.21.
- Grace Bergstrom touched the wall with a season best time of 1:56.79 to place 16th.
- Margaret Flaherty placed 27th with a time of 2:00.79.
- Shanna Haddow placed 29th with a time of 2:03.84.
100 Breaststroke
- Julia Pusateri placed 18th with a time of 1:08.09.
- Sister Jillian Pusateri placed 20th with a season best time of 1:10.07.
- Sarah Hensal tallied a season best with a time of 1:11.12.
100 Backstroke
- First-year Casey Barrett tallied a season best time of 58.70 as she placed 13th.
- Taylor Eck followed right behind with a season best time of 58.77 as she placed 14th.
- Kelly Bartnett tallied a season best time of 59.37 to place 19th overall.
- Nikole Rudis tallied a season best time of 1:03.05 to place 28th.
