Equestrian Named High Point Team At Connecticut College Show

GALES FERRY, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Equestrian picked up their seventh High Point Team title of the year as SHU tallied 42 points at Connecticut College's show this morning. The Pioneers return to action tomorrow when they compete at Trinity at 9:30 a.m.

SHU took first in 10 events which included a first, second and third place sweep in the Intermediate Flat as Seniors Michaela Fritsch and Anne Bergere placed first and second in Section A while senior Emily Spellman and junior Hailey Tyler placed first and third to round out the sweep. Fritsch qualified for regionals in Intermediate Fenses as she placed first in that event as well. She placed third in the High Point Rider workoff for the second straight week. Sophomore Danielle DeRisio also qualified for regionals in Open Flat with her third place finish today in Open Flate Section C.

Open Fences Section A: Senior Co-Captains Gabi Sorrentino and Emily Spellman placed 2nd and 3^rd.

Open Fences Section B: Senior Anne Bergere placed 5^th.

Intermediate Fences Section A: Senior Michaela Fritsch and junior Devon Cavaliere placed 1st and 2^nd.

Intermediate Fences Section B: Freshman Hanna Lloyd placed 4^th

Open Flat Section A: Freshman Hanna Lloyd placed 3^rd.

Open Flat Section B: Senior Gabi Sorrentino placed 6^th.

Open Flat Section C: Sophomore Danielle DeRisio placed 3^rd.

Intermediate Flat Section A: Seniors Michaela Fritsch and Anne Bergere placed 1st and 2^nd.

Intermediate Flat Section B: Senior Emily Spellman and junior Hailey Tyler placed 1st and 3rd for a SHU sweep of Intermediate Flat.

Limit Fences Section A: Sophomore Alyssa Kinney placed 1^st.

Limit Fences Section B: Freshman Joanna Coreno placed 1^st.

Limit Fences Section C: Freshman Molly Guglielmino placed 5^th.
