Equestrian Captures Fourth Straight Region 5 Team Championship With Tie at Trinity College

SIMSBURY, Conn.- The Sacred Heart University Equestrian picked up their eighth High Point Team title of the year as SHU tallied 33 points along with Connecticut College at Trinity College's show this morning.
With the win, the Pioneers clinch the Region 5 Team Championship which qualifies the team for the Zone Championships on April 4 which determines a spot at IHSA Nationals. This is the fourth year in a row the Pioneers have taken the Region 5 title.
SHU took first in six events and as sophomore Danielle DeRisio highlighted the day as she was named High Point Rider of the day after a two rider flat workoff. She also placed first in Intermediate Fences Section A and placed first in Open Flat Section B.
Open Fences Section A: Senior Gabi Sorrentino did not place.
Open Fences Section B: Senior Michaela Fritsch placed 2nd.
Intermediate Fences Section A: Sophomore Danielle DeRisio and Freshman Hanna Lloyd placed 1st and 3rd.
Limit Fences Section A: Freshman Molly Guglielmino and Sophomore Alyssa Kinney placed 2nd and 3rd.
Limit Fences Section B: Freshman Joanna Coreno placed 3rd.
Open Flat Section A: Senior Gabi Sorrentino placed 4th.
Open Flat Section B: Sophomore Danielle DeRisio placed 1st.
Intermediate Flat Section A: Junior Lea Mascola placed 1st.
Intermediate Flat Section B: Senior Michaela Fritsch placed 1st.
Limit Flat Section A: Sophomore Alyssa Kinney and Freshman Molly Guglielmino placed 1st and 2nd.
Limit Flat Section B: Freshmen Joanna Coreno and Lexi Setteducati placed 1st and 4th.
Pre-Novice Flat Section A: Freshman Sophia Sauber placed 3rd.
