
Cotton and McIlmurray Tabbed NCAA Men's Hockey Statistical Champions

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.- Sacred Heart University Men's Ice Hockey seniors Austin McIlmurray and Jason Cotton were tabbed NCAA Statistical Champions by the association earlier this morning. Cotton was tabbed the statistical champion in short-handed goals, and McIlmurray was named statistical champion in power-play goals.
Cotton led the Pioneers in scoring this season as he racked up a career high 20 goals alongside 17 assists for 37 points. He was named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year, tabbed to the All-Atlantic Hockey First and was a top 10 Hobey Baker Award finalist. Throughout the season, Cotton tallied three short-handed goals which gave him the accolade of him become the statistical champion. Cotton was the first Pioneer to sign a professional contract with the National Hockey League team Carolina Hurricanes earlier this year as well.
McIlmurray was dominate on the man advantage this year, racking up a total of 12 power-play goals which made up the majority of his career high 18 goals, with 14 assists for a total of 32 points. He was named the Atlantic Hockey Scoring Champion as well as named to the All-Atlantic Hockey First-Team. McIlmurray was able to notch two power-play goals in two games this season which came against Niagara on Oct. 25 and at Air Force on Jan. 31.
