SHU Gears Up for Weekend Play at #12 Boston University

FAIRFIELD, Conn.- 
The Sacred Heart University men's ice hockey team continues their road swing as they travel to face #12 Boston University for a pair of games beginning Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Last Time Out... SHU is entering this weeks series with an 0-2 record as the Pioneers fell to Merrimack 4-2 on October 9. Braeden Tuck scored the two lone goals in the game for his first career multi-goal game.

Last Meeting....This is just the third meeting SHU will meet with Terriers as the series tied up at 1-1. The last time the Pioneers met Boston University was back in 2019-20 when SHU stunned the Terriers with a whopping 4-0 shutout on November 26, 2019. Four Pioneers scored in the game Austin McIlmurray, Jason Cotton, Vito Bavaro and Ryan Steele. Goalie Josh Benson picked up his second shutout of the year and recorded 36 saves.

Scouting The Terriers... The Terriers are coming off a split series with Hockey East rival UConn on October 8-9. The Terriers took the opening game 2-1 while the Huskies ran by Boston University the following day winning 5-1. The Terriers currently rank first in the nation in the penalty kill not allowing one power-play goal on defense while struggling to score goals ranking 40th in scoring offense.     

Tuck Terrific...... Junior Braeden Tuck is coming off scoring his first goals of the season as he recorded the Pioneers lone goals in the 4-2 loss at Merrimack on October 9. This was Tuck's first multi-goal game of his career.

Spreading the Wealth.....SHU has been spreading the wealth around in its first two games as 10 Pioneers have already recorded at least one point this season. Meanwhile, half of the 10 have recorded two points. Seniors Austin Magera, Ryan Steele and juniors Logan Britt, Kevin Lombardi and Braeden Tuck have registered multiple points this season.

On the Assist.....SHU has recorded a bunch of assists this season as they rank second in Atlantic Hockey with 10 on the year which also ranks tied for 28th in the nation.
