Nico Galette posted a career-best scoring performance with 15 points
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Despite trailing by just seven at halftime, the Sacred Heart University men's basketball team ran out of steam at Providence on Thursday night. The Pioneers fell, 92-64, as they move to 1-1 in the opening two-game road stretch.

At the 10:37 mark in the first half, Nico Galette scored five unanswered points to give SHU a two-point lead, but a 9-0 swing by Providence brought the advantage back to the Friars as they led by seven before the break.
The second half was the game-changer as the Friars erupted shooting 58.1% from the field, compared to SHU's 34.4%. The Pioneers grew cold coming out of the halftime break, netting just four threes in the second half compared to the eight they netted in the first. Not only did Providence tally six three-pointers in the final 20 minutes, but 20 of its 49 second-half points came from the paint. The high shooting percentage helped PC extend its best scoring run of the night, 13-0, as they grew to a 20-point lead.
Sacred Heart also threw the ball away nine times in the second half alone. The Friars capitalized 17 points off the Pioneers' mistakes.
Four Pios posted double-figure scoring, led by Galette who poured in a career-high 15 points. The Rahway, N.J. product shot 42.9% (6-14) from the field and three-of-nine from long distance, both of which mark career-bests.
Tyler Thomas (13), Alex Watson (12) and Joey Reilly (11) all posted their second-straight double-digit scoring performance.
