
Ciszek Snags Final NEC Weekly Honor

SOMERSET, N.J. – The all-around volleyball prowess of Sacred Heart University setter Sarah Ciszek continues to be on display. Two great performances to conclude the regular season earned her the Northeast Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week award as announced by the league office.
It's the fifth award for the San Juan Capistrano, Calif. native this season and the 14th of her career. Anastasia Scott from LIU picked up Defensive Player of the Week and St. Francis Brooklyn's Monica Vargo nabbed Rookie of the Week.
During wins over Bryant and Merrimack, Ciszek averaged 9.43 assists, 2.43 digs, 1.43 kills, 0.86 blocks and 0.71 aces per set while hitting .476. Against Bryant, Ciszek had 42 assists and eight digs, then came back to hit .750 with six kills versus the Warriors. Ranked second in the NCAA with five triple-doubles, she's currently the league leader in hitting percentage (.360) and is second in assists (8.88).
Sacred Heart, seeded second, opens the NEC Tournament Friday when it takes on LIU at 3:30 p.m.
