Grant Scores Fifth NEC Weekly Award

Junior running back is third in the FCS for rushing yards.
SOMERSET, NJ –Sacred Heart University running back Malik Grant turned in another great performance Saturday at LIU to help the football team clinch the Northeast Conference championship. That effort warranted NEC Offensive Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday.
It's the fifth time this season the Bronx, NY native has been recognized by the league. Duquesne's AJ Garson was named Defensive Player of the Week, Joe Zoppi from Central Connecticut State collected Special Teams Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors went to Bryant's Zevi Eckhaus.
Even though he only touched the ball 13 times, Grant found the endzone on three occasions. He rushed for 127 yards on 12 carries (10.6 yard per carry) with two touchdowns and caught one seven-yard touchdown pass.
Grant ranks third in the country and leads the NEC at 117.1 yards per game and 1,288 total rushing yards. He's also 13th at 129.8 total yards per game.
Sacred Heart will play Holy Cross on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the first round of the FCS Playoffs. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
