Senior nabs second weekly honor.
SOMERSET, N.J. – Strong performances in back-to-back matches by Sacred Heart University senior women's volleyball player Reghan Palanchi earned her Northeast Conference accolades. The senior middle blocker was named Player of the Week as announced by the league office.
It's her first award of the season, but the second for the Succasunna, N.J. native. Palanchi picked Defensive Player of the Week on March 1. Fairleigh Dickinson's Alix Christie was named Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week was split between Monica Vargo from St. Francis Brooklyn and Saint Francis' Maggie Hogan.
At SFU and FDU, Palanchi set a season-high with 13 kills in each match. She averaged 3.25 kills per set while hitting .446. In addition, she averaged 1.1 blocks per set thanks to five rejections at Fairleigh Dickinson.
Sacred Heart plays its final two regular season games this weekend when it hosts Bryant on Friday then Merrimack on Saturday.
