
Pioneers Fall 3-0 at St. John's

QUEENS, NY – The last time any member of the Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team played a meaningful match in February it was on their club team. That changed Saturday as the Pioneers started their fall-to-spring season with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-18) loss at St. John's.

Of Note:
The first set was knotted at 12-12 thanks to a Rianna McNamee kill. The Red Storm pulled away with a 6-0 run on their way to 25-17 set win. St. John's used early runs in sets two and three to win the match.
In her Sacred Heart debut, Olivia Fairchild led the way with a team-high nine kills. Playing her first collegiate match, Dominque Felix had seven kills and five digs.
Junior setter Sarah Ciszek handed out 26 assists and libero Emma Smallcomb produced a match-high 10 digs.
Sacred Heart could not slow down the Red Storm's offense as the host hit .345 to SHU's .141. St. John's also had a 7-4 blocking advantage.
