
Swimming and Diving Lays in Fourth After Day Two at the NEC Championships

CARLISLE, Pa.- More records fell and history was made as the Sacred Heart University women's swimming and diving program currently sits in fourth at the NEC Championships with one more day of competition coming tomorrow.
MORNING SESSION (Prelims)
- Sophomore Casey Barrett continued her outstanding performance at the championships with a lifetime best time of 58:07 in the 100-yard backstroke. Her time moves her into second all-time at SHU right behind Anna Brown who holds the record from 2017 with a time of 57:20.
- Junior Taylor Eck set a lifetime best time in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.42 and moves into second all-time at SHU in the 100 butterfly.
- Jillian Pusateri (100-yard breaststroke 1:09.21), Ella Krikorian (200-yard freestyle 1:57.50), Casi Glejzer (100-yard breaststroke 30.63), Emma McCall (100-yard butterfly 1:00.28), Ashley Ayala (100-yard backstroke 1:02.77) each tallied lifetime best times
- Ashley Ayala also tallied a career-best in the 100-yard backstroke while Alivia Gibson tallied a career-best in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.26.
- Seven Pioneers qualified for finals in events tonight which so far the total surpassed the number of A finalists from last year which was there in 2020 to now four in 2021.
- A total of 24 Pioneers have qualified for finals throughout the NEC Championships which is the most in program history. The Pioneers' last record was 21 back in 2018.
EVENING SESSION (Finals)
- In the 100-yard backstroke, Casey Barrett placed 13th with a time of 58.42.
- In the 100-yard butterfly, Taylor Eck placed 12th with a time of 57.34.
- Jillian Pusateri placed 15th with a time of 1:09.14 in the 100-yard breaststroke which was a hair faster than her qualifying time.
- Ella Krikorian placed 15th in the 200-yard freestyle final with a time of 1:57.48 which was stronger than her qualifying time.
- Casi Glejzer took 15th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.80.
- In the 200-yard medley relay, the Pioneers placed 7th with a time of 1:48.39 featuring Casi Glejzer, Jillian Pusateri, Emily Peter, and Emma McCall.
- Junior Nicole Tingley set a school record in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.95 just missing the podium as she placed in fifth.
- Senior Emily Peter finished ninth with a time of 56.56 in the 100-yard butterfly final which also set a new school record.
