Midway through the second half, the Pioneers took a 6-5 lead on Grace Reinold's first goal of the season. The Sharks responded with four-straight goals with Amanda Masullo providing the eventual game-winning goal off the free position attempt with 11:57 to play.
Sacred Heart sandwiched goals from Lydia Werlau, Emma Kittredge and Mikala Eacrett around four scores by the hosts in the first half. Eacrett's score with 35 seconds left in the half trimmed the deficit to 4-3.
LIU had a slight edge in shots (32-26), but controlled most of the game by winning 17-of-22 draw controls. SHU did force the Sharks into 23 turnovers.
