Pioneers win seventh match in a row.
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – At the start of Northeast Conference play, the Sacred Heart University women's volleyball team let the match at Central Connecticut State slip away. The Pioneers made sure to not let that happen Friday as SHU swept the Blue Devils, 3-0 (25-19, 29-27, 25-21).

Sacred Heart won the close points down the stretch in the first two sets. In the second frame, the Pioneers had to stave off set point after letting a 24-22 lead slip. Brooke Jeffrey and Kate Anderson combined for five of SHU's last six points including a Jeffrey ace on set point.
Anderson came through in set three to put the match away. After the Blue Devils pulled within 22-20, the 6-foot-5 middle blocker produced a kill then got another winner on match point.
Neither team was sharp offensively, with the Blue Devils limited to a .070 hitting percentage and SHU at .138.
Five different Pioneers produced six or more kills with Anderson, Jeffrey & Jasmine Rogers each producing eight. Sarah Ciszek just missed a double-double with 30 assists and nine digs while Emma Smallcomb had a match-high 18 digs.
