HEMPSTEAD, NY – An early deficit was too much for the Sacred Heart University men's wrestling team to overcome on Saturday. The Pioneers dropped a 37-15 decision at Hofstra.

The Pride grabbed the first three bouts to amass a 17-0 lead. Rookie Jacob Venezia got the Pioneers on the board when he pinned Jacob Moon in 3:44 of their 125-pound bout.

Sacred Heart narrowed Hofstra's lead even further when Anthony Petrillo followed in the very next match with a 5-3 decision at 133 pounds versus Matthew Templeton.

Unfortunately, Hofstra won the next four contests to wrap up the team victory. Joe Sacco received a forfeit at 174 pounds.

Sacred Heart will travel to LIU on February 19 for a 4 p.m. contest.
