Softball fell 8-0 to Oregon State and 12-0 to UC Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif.- The Sacred Heart University softball team opened play at the Amy S. Harrison Classic with a pair of losses coming to Oregon State and UC Riverside by scores of 8-0 and 12-0.

Both teams were held to no runs in the first two innings as Sarah Lawton would strikeout five batters in the opening innings.
Oregon State scored the first run of the game off an RBI single through the right side to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead.
A pair of home-runs in the bottom of the fourth inning put the Beavers ahead 4-0 followed by an RBI single to the pitcher in the fifth inning would send the game into the game to sixth inning with Oregon State ahead 5-0.
The Beavers sealed the win with an three-run home run by Charity Sevaaetasi in the sixth inning to secured the 8-0 victory.

Of Note:

UC Riverside jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning off a bases-loaded RBI single down the left field line and a three-run home run by Gigi Araki.
Araki gave the Highlanders another three runs in the second inning with her second home-run of the game to five UC Riverside a 7-0 lead.
After an RBI ground-out to the shortstop to give the Highlanders an 8-0 lead in the third inning, they'd score four more runs in the fourth to walk away with the 12-0 victory in five innings.
Kylee Harvey and Jenna Mowad were the lone Pioneers to tally a hit in the game.
