The second inning saw eight Pioneers score to take an early 8-0 lead. Steven Schoen doubled and advanced to third on the throw to allow Robert Farruggio score. On the same play, the senior crossed home on a throwing error by the catcher to put SHU up by two.

Three batters later and bases loaded, Sam Mongelli doubled down the left field line to bring home Justin Levito and Joey Skarad.

With the bases loaded again, Emerson put the Red & White up by eight with his first career grand slam.

FDU got on the board with one run in the top of the fourth off a single. The Knights then recorded a pair of runs in the fifth followed by three more across the sixth, seventh and eighth innings.

Justin Jordan, Mongelli and Ryan Donnelly tacked on three more runs across the fourth and seventh innings.

Mongelli went 2-4, walked in the seventh before George Sutherland brought him home and recorded a pair of RBIs. The junior's fly ball two center field in the fourth inning put Jordan in scoring position. On the next at at, Donnelly's sacrifice fly to left field allowed Jordan to score.

The Knights out hit the home team 12-5 but couldn't capitalize as they stranded 13 Knights.

Chase Jeter secured his first win of the season. The left-hander went 4.2 innings and struck out a season-high six batters in back-to-back starts.

Coming in as relief in the sixth inning, Charlie Costello nabbed his first career save. The first-year went 3.1 innings and struck out a career-high five batters. Costello closed out the ninth with three-straight retired batters.
