BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- The Sacred Heart University softball team fell in the series finale to LIU on Sunday by a final score of 11-3 on Saturday.

Of Note:

LIU took the opening lead in the bottom of the first inning off a three-run home run by Maya Avila to put the Sharks ahead 3-0.
SHU countered in the top of the second off a solo home-run by Amy Petrovich to narrow the LIU lead to 3-1.
The Sharks tacked on two more runs in the bottom half of the inning of an RBI double and single to take a 5-1 lead.
LIU tallied one more run in the bottom of the third off the bat of Avila to give the Sharks a 6-1 lead.
In the fourth, Avila launched a grand-slam to left field to put the Sharks ahead 10-1.
SHU answered in the top of the fifth inning with a pair of RBI doubles by Jenna Mowad and Grace Saad to narrow the Shark lead to 10-3.
The Sharks scored one more run in the bottom the fifth off a passed ball and error to give the Sharks the 11-3 victory.
