Rowing Places Fifth at MAAC Championships

PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Sacred Heart University women's rowing team wrapped up races at the 2022 Metro Atlantic Athletic Association Championship on Sunday. Overall, the team finished in fifth place which is the best finish the team has had since the 2010 season.
The Pioneers placed second in the second in the 1st Varsity 4 preliminary heat to qualify for the Grand Finals with a time of 08:28.023. The 2nd Varsity 4 boat also qualified for the grand final with a time of 07:28.57 in the preliminary heat for a third place finish. In the Grand Finals, the 2nd Varsity 4 boat took third place scoring the lone podium finish for the Pioneers with a time of 08:46.572. SHU took fourth in the finals of the 1st Varsity 4 boat with a time of 08:32.008 while the 2nd Varsity 8 boat took sixth with a time of 07:27.726. The 1st Varsity 8 boat rounded the day with a fifth place finish with a time of 06:55.775.
Following the championship, the All-MAAC teams were announced. Amber Fischer captured her second straight All-MAAC honor with a seat on the All-MAAC Second Team. For the first time in her career Emily Iannontuoni, was named to the All-MAAC First Team.
